Dynamics 365 Business Central Query Authentication Guide


Overview

This is a step-by-step guide to acquiring credentials and authorising the Dynamics 365 Business Central Query connector for use in Matillion ETL.

Important Information

  • The Dynamics 365 Business Central Query connector uses an API token for third-party authentication.
  • While connector properties may differ between Cloud Data Warehouses, the authentication process remains the same.

Acquiring Third-Party Credentials

  1. Navigate to the Dynamics 365 Business Central Portal. The login screen will appear immediately. Enter valid login credentials to continue. The browser will then redirect to the Dynamics 365 Buisness Central dashboard. Click Search on the menu in the top right of the screen.

  2. A pop-window will appear. Using the TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO DO field, search "Users". A list of options will then appear below the search field. Click Users to go to the USERS page.

  3. Click the User Name to be associated with the API.

  4. Now, copy the code to the right of Web Service Access Key as it will be required in Authorising for use in Matillion ETL.

Authorising for Use with Matillion ETL

  1. If a Dynamics 365 Business Central Query connector is not already on the job canvas, search "Dynamics 365 Business Central" using the Components search field, or find the Dynamics 365 Business Central Query connector under OrchestrationLoad/UnloadCRM & Marketing Automation.

    Please Note

    An Orchestration Job must be open on the job canvas within Matillion ETL to ensure the Dynamics 365 Business Central Query connector is searchable within the Components panel.

  2. Then, click and drag the Dynamics 365 Business Central Query connector onto the job canvas.

  3. Click the connector icon on the job canvas to open the Properties panel at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Then, click ... next to the Access Key input.

  5. Then, in the pop-up window, paste the Web Service Access Key (copied from the Dynamics 365 Business Central Portal earlier) into the Store in component field and click OK.

  6. If the Access Key is entered correctly, the connector should be authenticated and the status of the input will be displayed as OK.
