1. Backup and export assets from Matillion Partner Connect instance
The first step is to backup the work you have done on your Matillion Partner Connect instance and export it. You will want to backup:
Job definitions, environments, and environment variables
API Profiles (if any)
Backup and export job definitions, environments, and environment variables
In the Matillion ETL client, go to Project → Export
Select the Jobs, Environments, and Variables you’d like to export and then OK. This will download a JSON file will necessary definitions.
See the documentation on Export/Import for more information.
Backup and export API Profiles (if any)
If you have developed any API Profiles, you will need to copy the content across to local files separately as these are not accessible by the export utility.
To do this visit Project→Manage API Profiles, select the profile and copy the definitions to local files with your job and environment backup for safe keeping. Repeat for each profile.
2. Launch new instance of Matillion
To get started with Matillion ETL for Snowflake you will need to launch Matillion from the AWS or Azure Marketplace. See Launching Matillion ETL for Snowflake for more information about how to get started.
3. Import/Restore your backups
Step on importing and restoring your backup is for those who have launched Matillion ETL for Snowflake from AWS.
Since each of our products is specifically built for the cloud data warehouses, there are some differences between our AWS and Azure Matillion ETL for Snowflake products. The instructions outlined above are for AWS. If you have launched for Azure, there are a couple of simple manual steps to take to get set up. Our Solution Architects are available to help you migrate smoothly. You can contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org for guidance on how to restore your instance.
Start by Creating a new project on the target server. Once you are in the project, Go to Project → Import (consult the Import documentation for more information). Select the JSON file from the backup you conducted in Step 1 above and restore it.
Restoring API Profiles
Go to Project → Manage API Profiles, create a Profile and then copy the definitions you previously backed-up and saved locally and paste them into your new API Profile.
